ONE of Stamford’s biggest clashes in the rugby calendar takes place at Hambleton Road tomorrow with Stamford Town hosting Stamford College Old Boys.

Town have added motivation to win the Midlands East 4 (South) match because a victory will edge them nearer to the league title.

Last week’s against Westwood was cancelled to the frustration of captain Oli Storey, who said: “If we had got the bonus point against Westwood then a bonus point against College would have put the league season to bed.

“However, a win against College this week will not be easy as I know they always come out of the blocks against us.”

A win at home on Saturday and victory at St Ives the following week will see Town crowned league champions.

College Old Boys go into the game on the back of an impressive 29-14 victory against St Neots – full report page 114.

Both sides want as much support as possible and there will be a family barbecue and bar open at the ground from 1pm.
