Rutland County members celebrated the club’s 20th Anniversary with a Shotgun start Texas Scramble with a presentation for the winners on the day.
Back in 1993 the club opened with just 15 members and it has grown ever since with more than 100 members and guests crowded into the clubhouse where club captain Kevin Moxham and lady captain Mandy Collins led the celebrations.
Winners were Pete Siciliano, Roger Overton, Chris Palmer and Andy Vernon with a score of 55.1. In second were Rick Collins, Dave Waddell and Martyn Gatehouse on 57.7; third were Barry Cheshire, Alan Shuttleworth, Paul Milsom and Flo Lawrence were third on 58.1; in fourth were Taff Magill, Bob Ambrose, Pete Maksymiw and Mike Turner, 58.5; and in fifth the team of Deggy Palmer, Chris Bower, Craig Allan and Darren Child on 58.7
Nearest the pin winners were Chris Palmer, Ollie Huxley, Graham Bedford, Pakka Risi and Pete Siciliano.
l There was a wonderful turnout for last week’s Senior Captains Charity day with £600 raised for Anna’s Hope.
The prize for the putting competition was shared between David Whitehead and Kevin Whittle, both with 18 pts. Second place was also shared, between Fred Shorrock and Frank Copsey with 17 pts.
Jim Kelly won the Nearest the Line on 8th, while Nearest the Pin prizes went to Ian Barron (4th), Rex Houlden (7th), Bob Goddard (13th), Marion Aston (15th) and Ian Barron (17th). Mike Aston won the Best Visitor prize.
The top three in division one of the standard Stableford competition were: Alan Shuttleworth (39), Dick Wray (38), Peter King (37). Division 2 was led by Mike Glenister (43), Gill Glenister (42), Jenny Tily (39). The Best Front 9 went to Mike Glenister (25 pts), and the Best Back 9 to Gill Glenister with 23.
