Yvonne Webb won the Alan West Memorial Trophy during another week of excellent catches at Rutland Water.
Her bag of eight fish tipped the scales at 23lb 2oz with 60 anglers recording a rod average of fractionally over five - slightly below the week’s impressive average of 7.42.
Mike Barratt was second with eight fish for 22lb 15oz and Matt Oldroyd third with eight fish for 22lb 11oz. The best fish of the match was a 4lb 10oz rainbow taken by Simon Lehane.
Among the week’s big catches of the week was a monster 10lb 5oz brown trout caught by Cameron Neil off the bank.
Other notable catches included a 6lb 8oz rainbow for Phil Webb, and a 6lb 2oz catch for Roger Marshall off the bank on the peninsula.
With the wind finally turning from East North East, bank anglers were taking fish in Church Bay and the Normanton area. Prior to this the Dam, Sykes Lane, Whitwell Front, Whitwell Creek, Yellowstones and Old Hall had all been producing fish.
Boat anglers fared best off Normanton, Sykes Lane, Barnsdale, Old Hall and Hambleton Wood.
A number of areas, like the bottom of both arms, haven’t yet been fished but expectations are high.
The first leg of the Anglian Water Spring Rudder Match takes place on Friday, April 20. The Dave Hodgson Memorial takes place on May 5.
