SEVERAL youth sailors from Stamford and the surrounding area raced in the first Topper National series, which was held at the Queen Mother Reservoir, near Windsor, recently.
All the competitors were out on the water for five hours on each of the three days of races with more than 200 sailors taking part.
Rutland Sailing club was represented by Hannah Stowe, from Baston, who came 118th and Zak Morton, of Leicestershire, who came 117th, and Ben Jennings from Stamford, who won the U14 class and was 26th overall.
Ben, Hannah and Zak are all members of RYA North of England Sailing squad.
Carys and Ciaran Randera, both from Market Deeping, raced for Lakeside Sailing Club – with Carys making her debut at a national series event. She came 94th out of around 200 boats and was 25th girl.
Cairan, who was also making his debut, came 140th. He is part of the RYA East of England squad and Carys is part of the East of England Development squad.
