Oakham won the opening match in this year’s Rutland Twenty20 contest, beating Uppingham 2nd XI at the Lime Kilns.
Mark Worthington was the hosts’ top scorer with 38 as they set Uppingham a target of 151 for 8. Opener Chris Larsen made 22 and Bhavin Shukla 27 for Oakham with Chris Howe taking three wickets for the visitors.
George Scott struck 57 for Uppingham who lost fewer wickets but failed to match the run rate, finishing on 134 for 4.
Rory Brown took 2 for 17 for Oakham who will face Ketton in the semi-finals after North Luffenham were unable to raise a side for the Friday’s second quarter-final clash.
Market Overton were due to face an Army side from Kendrew Barracks yesterday evening, with the winners set to play last year’s champions Uppingham 1st XI tomorrow.
