Rutland Water’s biggest rainbow trout of the season was caught at the reservoir last week.
The fantastic 8lb 12oz fish was taken by Des Welch, from Derbyshire, while boat fishing with Whissendine’s Rick Broome.
The pair fished the South Arm with sinking lines and a black booby humungus.
Other anglers to enjoy fine fishing at the reservoir include Steve Crowder, who took five rainbows up to 5lb from the North Arm.
The best fish from the bank last week was a 6lb 13oz rainbow caught off the end of the peninsula by John Richards of Grantham.
Places are still available for Rutland Water’s Fur and Feather (bank) day on December 2. For details call the fishing lodge on 01780 686441.
Zander are also being caught now, along with one or two pike – the best recorded at 15lb.
