A PAIR of Bourne boxers are stepping up their training in advance of a fight night at Deeping Leisure Centre next month.

Glenn Spearink, fighting at the 75kg weight, will be most experienced of the Bourne fighters. He will be keen to maintain his 100 per cent record when he enters the ring for his third competitive fight.

Simon Clark will be making his first appearance, competing at 72kg, and Bourne ABC coach Jason Brooke expects great things from their new man.

“Simon is a force to be reckoned with and is set to impress on his debut for the club,” said Brooke.

“The lads have been training hard including a sparring session with visiting boxers from Corby ABC.

“Bourne Boxers have been very well supported by family and friends at previous events and this time we are hoping for an even bigger turnout of support than we took to Holbeach.

“Stamford ABC are hosting the event and with Stamford boxers in most rounds, this is a good opportunity for sporting rivalry between the two towns.”

Brooke also thanked Harvey’s Universal Fitness in Bourne for their support.

Tickets for the evening of fights on March 3 cost £10 (children under 13, £5) and are available from Bourne ABC which meets on Tuesday and Thursday nights (7.30-8.30pm) and on Saturday mornings (9.30-10.30am).
