BOURNE Town Harriers travelled to Skegness where the testing loops along the beach and up over the sand dunes provided an energy-draining first round of the Lincolnshire Cross Country Season on Sunday.
In the U11 girls race, Leah Clark was 16th ahead of Keeley Caven 22nd. In the U11 Boys race, Aaron Hunt was second with Toby Everist in 18th. In the U13 girls race, Saskia Hunt was 13th with Molly Bennett in 17th, while Cameron Everist was 6th in the U13 boys race.
Martin Clarke was 6th in the U15 boys race and Joe Howells came in an impressive second in the U17 race.
Joe leads Martin and Aaron in the club’s junior boys’ series, while Saskia jumps to gold position pushing Leah back into the silver spot. Molly moves up to bronze in the girls’ series.
Rich Lomas-Brown was 24th and the first Bourne runner home in the seniors race. He was followed by Roland Stevens in 58th.
Claire Steels was an impressive 5th ahead of Dawn Hunt in 32nd in the ladies race.
These results promote both Rich and Claire into gold place in their respsective senior series.
This Sunday the team travel to Bushfield, Peterborough, for the second Frostbite League meeting of the season with juniors racing at 10.15am and seniors at 11am.
