Richard makes Harrier history

BOURNE Town Harriers completed the season’s senior club races at the Throney 5 mile at the weekend.

Vaughan Roberts led the club home ahead of Rich Lomas-Brown, Shaun Towell and Shaun Hill. Vicky Cocking was first of the ladies to cross the line, followed by Karen Clark and Emily Stevens.

The result means that Rich Lomas-Brown, having already secured the men’s series, becomes the first Harrier in the series’ seven year history to complete every round in a series.

It also lifted Vaughan into silver place, forcing Tony Gilbert back to bronze.

Penny Lamb secured the ladies series with Nicky Asplin in silver and Karen Clark in bronze.

The rearranged annual juniors track and field tournament will take place at Bourne Grammar School from 9am tomorrow and the Harriers’ Awards Presentation evening is on Saturday, September 8 at Bourne Town FC.

The Harriers training sessions cater for all abilities with new athletes always welcome.
