The Oaks slipped to sixth in the table following Saturdays scrappy defeat at Dronfield.
Oakham were beaten 23-18 in a game dominated by penalties and, in the view of Oaks coach Tom Armstrong, heavy-handed refereeing.
He said: “I hate blaming refs but this one never let the game flow. He slowed the game and it suited them more. He didn’t let contest any of the break downs.
“They scored after a couple of minutes when we were caught sleeping but after it was just two sides exchanging penalties. It was a really poor game of rugby.”
Armstrong was missing a couple of regulars but said his side should have been more than good enough to win.
The Oaks are at home to Nuneaton Old Edwardians on Saturday.
The Second XV are due to play Market Bosworth 2nd Xv at home. Both games kick off at 2.15pm.
