Stamford Town RFC ran in an incredible 13 tries against Long Buckby as they maintained their unbeaten start to the season on Saturday.

Cameron Park and Chris Fletcher both scored hat-tricks, Austin Schwartz and Matt Jane each bagged a brace and Robbie Smith, Tom Wire and Dave Bushrod all their names to the impressive tally.

Stamford eventually won 75-12 and the remaining points were all kicked by skipper Matt Albinson who said: “We played some good rugby.

“It was by no means just a case of turn up, win and go home. They are a mid-table side who are not often beaten heavily like that.

“We had five first choice players out so this result shows how strong our whole squad is.”

Stamford are now four points clear of second-placed Stewarts and Lloyds in the Midlands 3 East (South). They play Northampton Men’s Own away tomorrow. Their next cup tie is a trip to Lincoln for the quarter final of the RFU Senior Vase on December 1.

Stamford 2nd XV host Deeping 2nd XV tomorrow at 2.15pm.

Stamford: James Green, Angus Green, Matt Helstrip, Dan Griffin, Dave Bushrod, Cameron Park, Tom Wire, Bruce Parker, Robbie Smith, Matt Albinson, Matt jane, Chris Flecther, Austin Schwartz, Dave Young, Richard Thompson. Reps: Russ Morley, Alessio De Goubeia, Stephen Jordan.
