Left-armed bowler Nick Cowley took a hat-trick for Burghley Park last night, but they still lost their Stamford KO Shield twenty20 tie against local rivals Stamford Town last night (Monday).

Cowley won three lbw decisions from successive balls to interrupt Stamford’s serene chase of a low victory target of 66, but the home side eventually sneaked home by three wickets thanks to 34 from Zac Chappell.

Stamford now travel to Nassington for a semi-final tie on June 23. Nassington pipped Market Deeping by five wickets with skipper Dan Robinson (48no) hitting the winning boundary with two balls of their innings remaining. They had started the final over requiring eight to win.

Ufford Park recovered from 7-2 to post 148-6 and set up a 34-run win over Bourne. Ross Keymer (42) and Waqas Javed (40no) did the bulk of the scoring for Ufford - Javed also claimed a couple of wickets.

Ufford’s opponents in the last four are Ketton who eased to a five wicket win in their needle match at Castor. It was Ketton skipper Rob Vitas’ first return to Port Lane since leading a breakaway from Castor and he celebrated by running out star home batsman Mark Wheat.

Aussie Jordan Ryan (4-22) and Guy Cunningham (33no) were the top Ketton performers.
