Trio join Daniels

DANIELS boss Dougie Keast is delighted with how his new-look side is starting to take shape after a triple signing swoop this week.

Keast has secured the services of Blackstones duo Dan Cotton and Andy Lodge while also raiding new UniBond Division One South rivals Quorn to sign midfielder Chris Goodman.

Winger Cotton smashed more than 20 goals from midfield for Stones last season and Keast beat off a number of clubs, including nemesis Corby, to sign the talented youngster who briefly had a spell in the professional game with Boston United after coming through the ranks at Lincoln Road.

Lodge returns to the Vic Couzens Stadium for a second spell with the club after previously helping the Daniels to win the United Counties League Premier Division honours under then-boss Steve Evans.

Evans took Lodge, who is equally at home at left-back or in midfield, with him to Boston United where he helped them win the Conference title.

The 30-year-old has also enjoyed spells with Kettering, St Albans, Ilkeston, Wisbech, Spalding, Mildenhall and Holbeach.

Goodman is a skilful central midfielder who numbers Rugby United, Bedworth, Racing Club Warwick and Rothwell as his former clubs.

Their arrivals take Keast's summer signing spree to nine newcomers plus the re-signing of Chris Gray, Tom Guiney and Dominic Hallows from last season's squad.

He commented: "Dan's a very promising young player. He's got lots of pace and has a good goalscoring record.

"Chris is bright, good on the ball and a good lad to have in the dressing room while Andy brings a lot of experience having played at a decent level.

"I have my own ideas on how I want the game to be played and the type of player I want, but we're coming along nicely at the moment.

"I'm pleased with how things are shaping up, although the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

"We look to have a lot goalscoring potential and I want a hard-working midfield who can also weigh in with their share of goals and a defence that is hard to break down."

Keast secured the services of strikers Danny Matson and Phil Stebbing, midfielders Scott Musgrove and Ross Watson plus defensive duo Mark Burrows and Shaun Pearson last week.
