Uppingham Town suffered in their own words a “poor day” after slipping up against Market Deeping in Rutland League Division Two.
Playing at home and after a night of heavy rain Deeping were not too keen to play on the Uppingham square, but after winning the toss they were probably glad they did.
Deeping opened with Mehul Adatia(16) and Ben Willemsen (36) and got off to a good start losing two wickets for 65 runs in the first 15 overs.
Mark Cox with four wickets for 25 put the brake on the run rate, but Dave Gillett (37) and Will Trotman (32no) helped Deeping on to a final score of 176-8.
In reply Uppingham got off to a poor start losing the first six wickets to opening bowler Alistair Sharp (6-36 ) with the score at just 57 in 22 overs, and all the top order batsmen removed.
With only four batsmen reaching double figures Uppingham were bowled out for just 106 in 41 overs.
A poor day for Uppingham and a good win for Deeping.
The loss leaves Uppingham in second place in the table on 213. Deeping are in fourth on 180.
