BOURNE athletes were among a squad of 26 to represent Nene Valley Harriers in the Midland Region final of the National Premier League at the Alexander Stadium, Birmingham earlier this month.

After winning promotion to the Midland North Premier League, the club’s target this season had been purely to establish themselves in the top flight so to finish fourth and be selected for the final was an enormous achievement.

The standard of track and field on the day was extremely high with 286 AAA graded performances by 616 athletes in 82 events during the day as Nene challenged the best clubs in the Midlands including Birchfield, Notts AC, Rugby and Northampton, Swansea, Cheltenham and Milton Keynes.
