Bourne edged closer to the top of the Rutland League with an impressive 77 run victory at home to leaders Wisbech on Sunday.
The Abbey Lawn side, who have not always clicked on Saturdays in the Lincolnshire Premier League, beat another of the former leaders, Eaton Socon, a week earlier and are now just 19 points behind the leaders.
Bourne scored 232 from their 45 with Pete Morgan (40) and Ben Stroud (68) getting the ball rolling nicely before the first wicket fell.
Stuart Airey added 40 before being claimed caught and bowled by the pick of the visitors’ bowlers, Simon Freear, who took 4 for 65. Gary Freear finished 3 for 49.
Bourne’s bowlers then made an instant impression in the Wisbech innings with Morgan catching Danny Haynes for a duck off the bowling of Xanti Xipu.
Xipu finished with 5 for 42 off 11 overs with top-scorer Bradley Perrett among his victims, caught by Tom Dixon. James Gunthorp (2 for 24 and Matthew Hawken (3 for 42) also claimed wickets as Wisbech stumbled to 155 all out in 39 overs.
