Simon Hinchcliffe, from Crowland, stole the show at the November meeting when his pictures achieved top marks for both the single print and group section in the competition which had ‘Framed’ as the subject.
After the competition Peter Moyse, from Helpston, talked about his longstanding interest in John Clare’s work and the process that he adopted in self-publishing his latest book, A Poet for All Seasons, in which he illustrated many of Clare’s poems with his pictures, all of which were carefully chosen to reflect the seasons and words.
Although copies of Peter’s book are available from local booksellers, he brought along copies for sale. At £15 he thought that they would make an ideal Christmas present.
Peter will be bringing some more copies to the December meeting which will be held in Great Casterton Church Hall at 8 pm on Thursday, December 20, when ‘The Farming Year’ is the competition subject.
In addition members will be competing for the Print of the Year competition which will be judged by Liz Kemp, President of Peterborough Camera Club. Members will also be bringing some seasonal nibbles in order to round off 2012 in style.
New members are always welcome. Full details can be found on the SPS website www.stamford-photosoc.org.uk or from Dave Baxter, SPS secretary, telephone 01780 751849.
