Events to celebrate Book Night

BOOKWORMS across the area will be celebrating World Book Night this weekend.

People across Stamford and Rutland are hoping to encourage others to pick up a book and read as part of the World Book Night celebrations, which are due to be held tomorrow

A total of 48 copies of the Spy who came in from the Cold by John le Carre will be given away today in Stamford town centre by Petula Collier, known as Spike.

While Polly Marchant will be handing out 48 copies of chef Nigel Slater’s autobiography Toast at the Stibbington Truck Stop on the A1 southbound tomorrow morning.

A special evening for book lovers will be hosted at Oakham Castle tomorrow from 7pm as part of the World Book Night celebrations.

Best-selling author Elizabeth Chadwick will be giving a talk on her latest historical novel, To Defy a King, from 7.30pm in the castle.

The event will start at 7pm and will include a glass of wine. Tickets cost £3 with concessions of £2 from Oakham Library or call 01572 722918.
