BOOMERANG Returns joins forces with Ketton’s traditional French music and dance enthusiasts on Thursday to bring a flavour of the Alsace and Britanny to the Voodoo Lounge.
The venue will be magically transformed by the music and dancers in a show featuring the Expire Duo of Cédric Martin and Flavien Di-Cintio who are returning for the third year by popular demand, accompanied by Vincent Fisson who plays Breton dance music on guitar. .
Supporting them will be Mousakka with traditional Gavottes, Ridées, Plinns of Brittanny on guitar and accordian and folk singer Dolly May. The doors open at 8.30pm and tickets are £4 in advance from Silver Lane Wholefoods in Stamford, the venue or £5 on the door.
Expire Duo will also be at Stamford Arts Centre on Friday next week.
Dancers of all abilities are welcome and during the evening there will be many experienced dancers to help beginners.
The dances from Brittany do not usually require a partner as they are performed in lines or circles. The dances from other parts of France are usually danced in couples or larger sets and for some of them there will be the chance to dance with other people and change partners.
After a short workshop the evening will continue with the ball.
The doors open at 7pm and the workshop is on from 7.30pm to 8.30pm followed by the ball until 11.30pm. Tickets are £7 (£5) from the Stamford Arts Centre - 01780 763203 www.stamfordartscentre.com.
