THE work of talented photographers is on display at an exhibition at Stamford Arts Centre.

Stamford Photographic Society is running an exhibition in the centre’s gallery until August 6.

Entrance is free and the exhibition is available to view during arts centre opening hours.

The show opened on Monday and features 39 photographs from society members, as well as 12 photographs which will feature in Walkers bookshop’s 2012 calendar.

At a special launch night, John Hillier received a cup, sponsored by The George Hotel, for his panel of four photographs.

David Harris received the Burghley cup, sponsored by the Burghley House Preservation Trust, for the best single print and the Walkers cup, sponsored by Walkers bookshop, for the print of the year.

Society chairman John Hillier said: “This is our very first exhibition in the arts centre and we were pleased with how it has all gone.”

All members of the society were given the opportunity to take part in the exhibition, which is sponsored by the Rutland and Stamford Mercury, Maffit Construction Ltd, Martin and Co, Bourne Publishing Group and Rutland Cycling.

Club secretary Dave Baxter will give an illustrated talk on Stamford on August 5 at 8pm at the art centre in St Mary’s Street.
