A group of young people have organised a two-day arts festival.
LOV Festival will take place at Stamford Arts Centre on April 14 and 15. A group of five 15 to 25-year-olds have been busy planning the event and have come up with a packed programme of art, music and drama.
The group, pictured above, comprises artistic directors Courtney Vernall and Freya Taylor, marketing director Sammy Horner, financial director Iain Carson and operations manager Lisa Solovieva. They have decided every element of the festival, which has involved hiring professionals artists to lead workshops, auditioning musicians from around the area to perform at their end of festival gig, designing posters and spreading the word online via Facebook, Twitter and blog posts.
Artistic director Courtney said: “I have really enjoyed being a part of LOV Festival. Not only have I learnt new skills and gained valuable work experience but I have also made some great new friends. I have loved every minute of it”
Project worker Alice White added: “I’ve only been a part of LOV since January, but since starting I’ve seen and been a part of the wonderfully creative work that takes place, of which, the preparation for LOV Festival has been a major part.
“LOV Festival has given young people the opportunity to take an active role in deciding upon the types of events, workshops and artists that they would like to see from their local arts venues, and I can’t wait till the festival when they get to showcase all the hard work that they have put in!”
