A FAMILY event packed with live music, demonstrations and children’s activities will be held at Sykes Lane, Rutland Water, Empingham, tomorrow from 11am to 6pm.
Rutland Day and Rutland Food Festival is a collaboration between Anglian Water and Rutland County Council to celebrate all that is great about the county.
This year there will be live music from Rutland Concert Band, the Houndogs and Big 10 Ska as well as family entertainment and children’s activities.
The food show element was started by Discover Rutland at Rutland County Council last year and is back this year with more variety and goods on offer.
Rutland food ambassador and partner and chef at the Olive Branch in Clipsham, Sean Hope, will be leading the food demonstrations using Rutland produce.
Rutland based food and drink providers will all be there with samples or cooking up delicious food. A hog roast, jacket potatoes, cup cakes, cider and real ale will be on offer.
Rutland County Council is also holding a Playday at the event as part of a national play scheme funded by the Big Lottery.
There will be loads to do, from pedal go-karts, volleyball, pool tables and table football, to den building, badge making and a giant sandpit.
Members of the editorial team at the Rutland and Stamford Mercury will also be there, including editor Eileen Green. Come and see us in the community marquee.
Entrance to the event is free but there will be a small parking charge of £3 per car.
