Musicians from the Academy of Ancient Music will give a concert in St Andrew’s Church, Lyddington tomorrow.

The programme of chamber music features trio sonatas and works for violin and harpsichord by Arcangelo Corelli and his contemporaries, including Handel Trio sonata in B flat major Op 2 No 3; Corelli Trio sonata in E flat major Op 2 No 6; Corelli Trio sonata in G minor Op 1 No 10; Veracini Violin sonata;

Geminiani Sonata in D minor for two violins and continuo Op 1 No 2; Handel Violin sonata; Avison Trio sonata in G minor Op 1 No 2; Avison Sonata in B flat major for harpsichord Op 7 No 3 and Handel Trio sonata in G major Op 5 No 4.

Founded by Christopher Hogwood in 1973, the Academy of Ancient Music was revolutionary. Centuries of convention were cut away as baroque and classical masterworks were heard anew.

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £14 (students £2) from: www.WeGotTickets.com/evenue/1428; Jo Harrison, 01572 820017; ticketmil@gmail.com; Uppingham Sports and Books; and Stamford Music Shop, 01780 751275 or £16 on the door.
