A musical theatre student from Bourne has been given the chance to perform solo on one of the country’s top West End stages.

Kirstie Handley, 18, pictured, has been chosen from more than 200 applicants to perform a solo musical theatre song at Her Majesty’s Theatre, on May 19.

The theatre currently hosts The Phantom of the Opera but on one Sunday each month it is transformed into a venue to showcase new talent.

Kirstie is a member of the Wildcats Post 16 Academy, studying the BTEC Extended Diploma in musical theatre.

Wildcats founder Caz Dolby said: “We are really proud of Kirstie and all the students that attend Wildcats. We are looking forward to watching her perform in May.”

Kirstie said: “I feel incredibly lucky that I am going to get to perform on the same stage as The Phantom of the Opera.”
