THE area’s newest theatre is set to launch a regular Sunday Session for music lovers.

Internationally renowned singer Barb Jungr, who hosts evenings of music and conversation featuring some of the country’s best performers is bringing these evenings to The Core at Corby Cube from January 16.

For lovers of live music, the theatre will be transformed into an intimate and softly-lit space where drinking, chatting and relaxing with friends go hand in hand with the exceptional entertainment on stage.

In the first of her Sunday Sessions for the spring season, on Sunday, January 16, Barb will be introducing the gorgeous rich tones of British soul singer David McAlmont (well known as half of duo McAlmont and Butler).

On Sunday, February 13, Barb welcomes Welsh jazz singer Ian Shaw to The Core’s stage, a former stand up comedian and colourful character who was hailed Best Jazz Vocalist in the BBC Jazz Awards in 2007. Classic femme fatale Caroline Nin, renowned for her own musical interpretations of legends such as Edith Piaf and Liza Minnelli, rounds off the season when she joins Barb on Sunday, March 13.

Barb Jungr and Friends Sunday Sessions start at 7pm, on January 16, February 13 and March 13, and tickets cost £13 (concessions £11). To book for one of these relaxed evenings of top live music, call The Core’s ticketline on 01536 470470 or book online at www.thecorecorby.com.

l A sellout dance show will be repeated at The Core to ensure more people have the chance to see it.

This year’s Shape Dance Show sold out almost immediately. Now another performance will take place at 1pm on Saturday, January 22.

Parents, friends and families of the performers have queued for hours each Saturday during December to make sure they got hold of a ticket. Now, for the first time in years, people not connected to the show will be able to see it.

Corby Borough Council’s Shape Dance scheme has been delivering tap, ballet and modern dance lessons throughout Corby for 40 years.

The classes are for children and young people aged between four and 23 years and this year has seen the introduction of two adult tap classes.

The annual show, taking place at The Core for the first time, will include elements from Circus, Glee, Sweet Charity, Fame and The Princess and The Frog. Tickets for Shape Dance Show are available from The Core’s Ticket Line on 01536 470470 or online at www.thecorecorby.com.
