A FREE concert will be held at St Medard and St Gildard’s church in Little Bytham, Saturday, March 10, from 7pm to 9pm.

It has been organised by Bythams Music and includes candlelit performances by Stamford Singers, Tourdian and flautist Jonathan Aughton. Any donations will go to the village church and an orphanage in Zimbabwe.

NEIL Diamond tribute performer, John Hylton will bring his Real Diamond - Jazz Singer tour to Stamford Corn Exchange on Thursday, March 15.

Together with his seven-piece band, John will take to the stage in an electrifying show covering hit songs such as Love on the Rocks and Brother Love.

PETERBOROUGH Big Band has a charity concert in The Deepings School tomorrow, Saturday, March 10, at 8pm in aid of Peterborough City Hospital’s oncology unit and the National Cancer Research Network in memory of drummer Gordon Wiggins.

THE Stamford heat in round one of MMG East Midlands Battle of the Bands takes place in Mama Liz’s Voodoo Lounge tonight, Friday, March 9.

Wreaklass Necklass, Simple Machines, Dead Commercial, Kamakazi Hotshot, Bride Of the Atom and Screw Callahan will go head to head for a second round place next month and ultimately a place in the regional final.

RUTLAND Sinfonia continues to celebrate its 35th anniversary season with a concert in St Peter‘s Church, Oundle tomorrow (Saturday, March 10).

The programme includes a sparking overture, Glinka‘s Overture Russlan and Ludmilla; the ever popular Piano Concerto and one of the greatest symphonies by Tchaikovsky, Symphony No 4.

Tickets are £10 (£8) in advance or £11 (£9) on the door. Under 18s £2.

STAMFORD-based string quartet, Orphicon, will play music by local composer Graham Dale, who is part of groups Paspatou and Pennyless. They are appearing on Sunday, March 11, in Stamford Arts Centre Gallery.

Six-piece female acappella group Pica Pica will also perform folk, jazz, gospel and world songs.

The music starts at 7.30pm and doors will open from 7pm.

Admission is £4 on the door.

AWARD-winning singer-songwriter, Hazel O’Connor will be at Stamford Arts Centre tomorrow, Saturday, March 10.

Striding into the spotlight with cult movie Breaking Glass, Hazel O’Connor immediately became an iconic figure. Live on stage, her unforgettable songs from the film including Eighth Day, Will You, Big Brother, and If Only seem even more relevant in our present times.

Expect an evening of some of the greatest songs from the 20th Century delivered with passion and fire - a soulful introspective dip into Hazel’s stunning portfolio.

Hazel will be joined by Clare Hirst on saxaphone and Sarah Fisher on keyboard.

Tensheds will be the supporting act.
