Actor and musician Ray Quinn will appear at Stamford Corn Exchange this weekend for a night of jazz and swing.
It is the 26-year-old’s first visit to the town, and the former Brookside soap actor and 2006 X Factor runner up says he is “really looking forward” to.
He said: “I’ve heard a lot about the town so will try and spend the day. I don’t know much about it so I’m hoping to find out.
“I’ve done a few gigs around the area but this is my first time in Stamford and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Ray’s performances will include tracks from his forthcoming album. He also plans to showcase tracks from previous albums including songs from his debut album Doing It My Way which sold more than 350,000 copies and was number one in the UK charts.
“It’s going to be a great gig,” he said. “I have a new album coming out next year and will showcase some of the songs from it.”
Ray, from Liverpool, said the series of new gigs which includes the one in Stamford was intended to “show my appreciation to fans”.
He said: “I’ve been doing different things and had taken the focus away from what I loved doing best which is singing and performing.
“This is me getting back to grass roots. I want to enjoy it and I want my fans to enjoy it.”
He said the performance in Stamford will have a “new and young vibe” with mostly swing and jazz.
“It’s really exciting to be back performing and injecting new elements to the music, ” he said.
Ray, who is currently working on a new album, has had a career in TV, theatre and singing. He was winner of the 2009 series of Dancing on Ice and this year was crowned Champion of Champions in the final of the very last Dancing on Ice series.
He has also appeared in the Channel 4 soap opera Brookside for which he won several awards for his performances.
A Night with Ray Quinn is on September 20 at Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre. Tickets cost £24.50 and are available from the Box Office on 01780 766455.
