Stamford Shakespeare’s summer season is drawing to a close with the last few performances of Dad’s Army (The Lost Episodes) at Tolethorpe Hall.
Back in the 1960s BBC storage policies were not particularly future proof. Programme rolls took up a great deal of room resulting in many being recorded over or binned.
The first series of Dad’s Army survived as a complete set but the second series was badly affected with five of the six episodes not being held by the BBC.
Adapted for the Tolethorpe stage, four of the lost episodes: Sgt Wilson’s Little Secret, Operation Kilt, Under Fire and A Stripe For Frazer include all the well-known characters.
Performance take place at 7.45pm tonight, tomorrow, Thursday, Friday, August 30 and Saturday, August 31 with 1.30pm matinees on both Saturdays.
