AN all-female cast will perform two gentle comedy plays in Market Overton Village Hall from Thursday to Saturday next week.

The Play Reading written by Joan Honey is set in the cottage sitting room of one of the members of a WI drama group.

It seems to be a normal play reading and appears to be so civilised but Sally, the youngest member, who claims to be psychic is troubled; the hostess, Mrs Prentice is acting strangely and the daily, Mrs Collett comes scurrying back in a fluster! Humour and tension prevails throughout and only at the very end does it all unravel. Or does it?

When Shakepeare’s Ladies Meet, by Charles George imagines what might happen should six of Shakespeare’s strongest female characters all come together one afternoon to provide young Juliet with the benefit of their experience in her budding romance with
Romeo.

These worldly-wise women are in for a surprise when Juliet demonstrates that age and maturity are not necessarily one and the same thing. Peppered with references from the characters’ original parts there is humour, feistiness and delight throughout.

Each play performed by members of Cottesmore Village Players, is less than 45 minutes long. A generous buffet will be served during the interval. Performances start at 7.30pm each night in in Market Overton Village Hall. Tickets are £12 including buffet, from 01572 768040; alanlynnlane@yahoo.co.uk
