Toft road accident leads to the arrest of a 14-year-old boy from Essex




A 14-year-old boy has been arrested for aggravated vehicle taking following an accident near Toft.

The teenager was airlifted to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham on Friday after the Mini he was driving crashed on the A6121 on the outskirts of the village.

The car had been stolen during a burglary in Essex.

Police believe the incident is linked to the theft of a Volkswagen Golf from a home in College Close, Great Casterton, on Friday morning.

A man was spotted with the VW at the scene of the accident but fled the scene when police arrived. It is thought they were travelling in convoy.

The car was later found abandoned at Edenham Road in Bourne.

The teenager, from Braintree in Essex, had surgery and is in a stable condition. He will be interviewed when he is released from hospital.
