A47 crash at Uppingham: 18-year-old driver of Porsche seriously injured




A man suffered serious injuries in a crash on the A47 this morning (Monday, June 21).

Police were called at 2.50am to reports of a car in a ditch near Uppingham and found a red Porsche. No other vehicles were at the scene.

The driver of the Porsche, an 18-year-old man, was released from the car by firefighters before being taken to University Hospital of Coventry.

The road was closed for crash investigations and officers are appealing to witnesses to get in touch.

Det Con Kasie Carter said: “The incident happened during the early hours of the morning but we would ask that if anyone does have any information in relation to the incident that they make contact with us.

“Did you witness the incident or see the vehicle being driven beforehand?

"Do you have any dashcam footage from the area at the time which could assist our investigation?

"Anyone with any information is urged to make contact with us.”
