Two town roundabouts are to be rebuilt early next month.

The roadworks in North Street, Bourne, will be carried out overnight on December 1 and 2.

North Street in Bourne will be closed from 8pm to 6am on the Wednesday and Thursday between the junctions with St Gilbert's Road and Christopher's Lane.

A 40-mile diversion route will be in place during the night.

The recommended route - because A-road traffic can only be diverted officially onto A-roads - is from A15 north up the A52, down the A152 at Donington and onto the A16 at Sutterton, and onto the A151 through Spalding.

The route will also be signposted in reverse.

Karen Cassar, assistant director for highways, said: "These two mini-roundabouts on North Street are nearing the end of their serviceable lives, so we are taking the opportunity to completely rebuild them over two evenings.

"This will involve removing the current carriageway then replacing and relining it.

"We will be doing everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum during the works and appreciate everyone's patience."
