Students and teachers alike were celebrating at Bourne Academy after a 100 per cent A-Level pass rate was achieved for the third year running.

And a record 35 per cent of the results were in the A* to B category – an 11 per cent rise on 2015.

Head teacher Laurence Reilly said: “I am delighted and amazed at our A Level results.

“While we are delighted by the performance of all our Year 13 students, particular congratulations are due to Nina Wilson and Shannan Hibbins, both of whom achieved two A* grades and As in their other subjects.”

Nina’s A*s were in Psychology and Sociology, with an A in English Literature, while Shannan achieved A*s in Biology and Sociology and As in English Literature and General Studies.

Mr Reilly added: “Our BTEC Level 3 results were again outstanding, with 100 per cent of grades at distinction or above, 91 per cent of these being awarded distinction*, the highest possible grade, which is equivalent to an A* grade at A-Level for university entrance.

“Congratulations go to Will Beavis, Bryonie Carnan, Connor Hayes and Shannon Ronan who all achieved three distinction* grades in their BTEC Level 3 qualifications.”

Will’s subjects were Science, Business and Music Technology, Bryonie’s were Art, Business and Music Technology, Connor’s were Business (Double Award) and Sport and Shannon Sport (Double Award) and Science.
