A record-breaking year for the Easton-on-the-Hill gala weekend 2019
Easton-on-the-Hill was buzzing as the annual gala raised a record amount and attracted thousands to the village.
The 13th event took place between Thursday and Monday and centred on the Blue Bell pub where there was music, food, drink and other entertainment throughout the gala.
It concluded on Monday with the village fete, pet show and grand raffle prize draw.
Tim Nicol, coordinator of the Easton-on-the-Hill gala committee, said: “The whole gala went extremely well and it’s difficult to see how we can improve it again.
“I think when all the takings have come in, we will have had a record year.
“We will have made over £3,000 for local groups including the Friends of the Church, bowls club, horticultural society, cricket club and the village hall.
“I would have said we had over 2,000 visit during the whole weekend.
“You couldn’t park anywhere in Easton - it was jam packed.
“It was our 13th annual gala and was definitely one of the better ones.
“There was so much going on.
“We started on Thursday evening with the Blue Bell Beer Festival that continued throughout the festival and that was very well-supported.
“On the Friday evening, we had more live music, including the Motor City Vipers performing.
“Saturday saw a twenty20 cricket match between the village team and an invitational team and in the evening, we held Easton’s Got Talent.
“There were numerous local beers in the festival on Sunday along with live music and we had a good turnout from 12pm to Midnight.
“On Monday, we had a pet show and the village fete.
“There was a record number of entries in the pet show and we turned the pub into a 1930s-style tea room.
“We also had fancy dress and the Easton Horse Trials that featured adults taking part on spacehoppers and children on hobby horses!
“The drawing of the grand raffle brought the gala weekend to a close and the top prize of £250 went a young family.”
Tim said he wanted to thank everyone for their time and support along with Carr's Construction, Richardson of Stamford, Lux Lighting and Alex from the Blue Bell.
