Rutland Water Aqua Park opens for Summer 2019 season

Aqua Park at Rutland Water has reopened for the Summer season with a splash.

The High Sheriff of Rutland Margaret Miles cut the ribbon, watched by staff from The Air Ambulance Service, which is the chosen charity for the course, a couple of weeks ago.

It is the fourth season for the inflatable obstacle course at the Whitwell shore and among the first to give the new course a go was the Mercury’s event coordinator Sharron Marriott with her 11-year-old daughter Isabella and their friends Victoria Woodward and her daughter Hannah, eight, all of Little Bytham.

All four were delighted to have the chance to give the course a go with brave Hannah bouncing from obstacle to obstacle without a care in the world - and declaring that she didn’t want to get out at the end.

Meanwhile, Isabella and Sharron were a little bit wary of falling off into the cold water and called it a day early in the hour long session.

But Sharron said: “A lot of people were having an awful lot of fun and it was great to give it a go. We can say we’ve done it now!

“Hannah is normally quite wary but she had an absolutely fantastic time and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.”

Changes this year mean it’s now open to other brave youngsters like Hannah with the course open to six and seven year olds.

Visitors are encouraged to pre-book to avoid disappointment, where more details on pricing is also available. The park is open until September 22.
