A47 closed at Wisbech after four car crash

The A47 has been closed at Wisbech following a four vehicle collision this afternoon (Wednesday).

The crash happened at about 4pm between the A1101 and B198 junctions.

An East of England Ambulance spokesman said one woman, aged in her 30s suffered a badly fractured ankle in the crash.

She was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn.

The spokesman said no-one else needed hospital treatment.

Police, fire and rescue crews are currently at the scene.

A police spokesman said two people were trapped inside their vehicles.

The road is set to be closed for a number of hours while emergency services work at the scene.

Witnesses to the crash are asked to call Cambridgeshire police on 101.
