A47 reopens after serious collision between lorry and car

A crash involving a lorry and a car caused long delays on the A47 near Peterborough this morning, Thursday November 19.

The crash, involving a red Volkswagen Polo and a Scania lorry, took place at Thornhaugh and caused traffic to queue back to the A1 junction eastbound and back towards Duddington westbound.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the scene at 6.44am and firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to release one casualty who was left in the care of ambulance crews

The road wa closed at Wansford roundabout and all traffic was sent down the A1 northbound carriageway.

At this time only minor injuries are reported.
