The governors of Uppingham Community College and Uppingham CE Primary School have launched a consultation on a proposal to form a Multi-Academy Trust.

The aim is to boost links between the schools and to enhance the teaching and learning opportunities for their pupils.

Both schools would continue to maintain their own identity and character but would cooperate even more than they currently do.

The consultation, which closes on July 15, is open to not just pupils, parents and staff, but the wider community.

Governors from both schools will study the responses before deciding whether to pursue establishing a trust. An application would then have to be approved by the Department for Education.
