Fire set in Moor Farm near Market Deeping

A fire, believed to have been set deliberately, has destroyed acres of farm land.

Six fire crews were called to Moor Farm near Market Deeping yesterday afternoon (August 5).

The fire spread across two of the fields and destroyed several acres of straw.

After five hours crews from Market Deeping, Bourne, Stamford, Crowland, Spalding and Donington extinguished the blaze.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately with a lighter and barbecue left behind.

There are also areas of burnt grass which haven’t quite caught alight.

A group of young men were seen heading towards Crowland at about 4.30pm.

Staff at Moor Farm took pictures illustrating the extent of the damage.

SPATE OF FIRES SPARK POLICE INVESTIGATION
