Aldi sets out plan for nine new stores including branches in Bourne and Market Deeping
Supermarket chain Aldi plans to open new branches in Bourne and Market Deeping.
The move would bring more choice for shoppers as well as new jobs.
In recent years Aldi has opened one new store a year.
Ciaran Aldridge, the national property director at Aldi UK, said: “We have been investing in Britain for more than 30 years now, but we know that there are still areas that either do not have an Aldi at all, or that need another store to meet customer demand.
“Shoppers are increasingly looking to get unbeatable prices on their weekly shop without compromising on quality. That’s why, more so than ever, we’re keen to explore all opportunities to open new stores across the country.”
The company is looking for freehold town-centre or edge-of-centre sites for the new stores.
Each would need a 1.5 acre site to accommodate a 20,000 sq ft store with 100 parking spaces, ideally on a main road with good access.
Aldi also hopes to open new stores in Old Clee, Epworth, central Lincoln, Boston, Branston, Holbeach Clough and Horncastle.
Work has started to clear a site on Uffington Road in Stamford for a new branch, which is due to open later this year.
