Alton Towers is warning Facebook users that a post offering five free tickets to the theme park is a scam.

A post is currently circulating on the social network entitled: ‘Get 5 free Alton Towers tickets to celebrate 125 anniversary’.

But the theme park has taken to social media to warn that the post is not genuine and that they are not giving away the tickets in this manner.

Posting on Facebook, Alton Towers said: “We have been made aware of a social media scam offering free tickets to Alton Towers Resort that is currently circulating on Facebook. This is NOT an official offer or affiliated to Alton Towers Resort in any way.

“Whilst action is taken to remove the scam, we would strongly advise against sharing your details or the post.”
