Staff and pupils at Uppingham Community College donned unusual hats for a good cause on Thursday last week.

The school was recognising Wear a Hat Day, the main brain tumour awareness event, while at the same time raising funds for Brain Tumour Research.

Prinicipal Jan Turner said that a member of staff has a brain tumour and that staff and pupils felt it would be good to support her and her family at this difficult time.

Mrs Turner added: “We had a success assembly in the afternoon and all the staff and students wore their hats which was a very impressive sight!”

The previous week the school was fundraising for Sport Relief and have raised an incredible £4,600 for the cause.
