Enterprise fair will take place at Rutland Garden Centre in Ashwell

A two-day arts, crafts, and enterprise fair will take place at Rutland Garden Centre in Ashwell as part of its ‘Small Business Summer’ initiative.

Based outdoors, but under the canopy at the garden centre, more than 50 local artists, artisans, and producers will be showcasing their products from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Spokesman for Rutland Garden Village, Miranda Jones, said: “The fair is the culmination of months of work reaching out to local businesses.

“Many of these artists and artisans have had very few opportunities to exhibit their work and meet shoppers over the course of the last 18 months, so this is an important event for them.

“There are also people coming who have started new businesses during lockdown, or who have been made redundant and turned their hobbies into a new business.

“We really hope that people come down and see first-hand the creativity, resilience, and resourcefulness of local people.”

There will be ceramics, mosaics, jams and preserves, jewellery, art, plus framed fossils and dinosaur teeth.

Entry is free on both days and Lord Lieutenant of Rutland Dr Sarah Furness will open the fair.

There will be a cold drinks and ice-creams station. The Garden Village Café will also be open
throughout.
