The director of an elderly care charity has appealed for donations of unwanted items in the New Year.

Age UK Leicester Shire and Rutland needs stock for its shops around the region. Director Anthony Donovan said: “Age UK is in desparate need of good quality goods for its network of charity shops.

“Donations of goods in the build up to Christmas fell off dramatically and all of the shops need replenishing.”

Clothing, bric-a-brac and other goods in saleable condition can be taken to any of Age UK Leicester Shire and Rutland’s shops directly.

Free collections of furniture can be arranged by calling the Birstall shop on 0116 2672098 and the Blaby shop on 0116 2781208.
