Fundraising appeal is launched to support the family of a teenager who was seriously injured in a Peterborough car accident
A fundraising appeal has been set up to support the family of a teenager who was seriously injured in a car crash.
Seventeen-year-old Zara El-Imad remains in a critical condition at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge following the accident in three weeks ago.
Her friend Jude Dunn, of Holmes Road in Glinton, died at the scene.
Zara's mum, Emma El-Imad, has been travelling from her home in Eye each day to be at her daughter's bedside. She is also having to pay for extra childcare for Zara's brothers, Charlie, Matteo and Rico.
Family friend Rachel Morpeth has set up an online fundraising page to help ease the financial burden.
She said: "Zara is a bright, loveable young girl, full of zest for life and everyone who knows her is praying for her to pull through this horrific incident.
"Zara has sustained multiple injuries. If our prayers are answered and she wakes up, these will take a long time in hospital to overcome.
"Any funds raised will go towards fuel and parking plus any additional cost associated with Zara’s long-term emotional and physical well being, or that of the family."
Zara, a former pupil at Arthur Mellows Village College, was travelling with Jude in a silver Audi TT at about 5.30am on August 28 when it crashed in Crowland Road, Eye Green
Rachel has set a fundraising target of £5,000.
