A new sixthform college has begun accepting applications.

Harington School, which received Government funding after a successful free school bid, is now urging pupils in Year 11 to apply for a place in September 2015.

It has not yet been revealed where in Rutland the school will be built.

The school is a joint project between Catmose College, Uppingham Community College and Oakham School. The proposer group this week announced the appointment of Dr Rob Guthrie as chairman of trustees.

Dr Guthrie has worked as principal of both state and independent schools. He said Harington would offer an “academic sixth form education of the highest quality providing access to the country’s top universities.”
