The UK’s largest inflatable Aquaglide water park opened with a splash at Rutland Water on Friday.

The ribbon at Aqua Park Rutland was cut by the High Sheriff of Rutland Dr Sarah Furness before members of the press, school children, groups and businesses got a chance to try out the super-soaking course.

This was followed by a jam-packed Saturday and Sunday which saw the park operating a full capacity.

Open until September 4, the park is made up of 16 fun inflatables, climbing walls, trampolines, blast bags and balancing beams for visitors of all abilities to climb, jump, crawl, chute, launch, slide and splash their way around.

Co-founder of Aqua Park Rutland Richard Drinkwater said: “In terms of opening weekend, things couldn’t have gone more to plan. We were at full capacity across both Saturday and Sunday and already we’ve seen bookings come flooding in – excuse the pun!

“It was fantastic to host the High Sheriff of Rutland for the day. And with the upcoming summer holidays, we’re expecting a few busy weeks ahead of us to say the least.”

Sports editor John Evely, who was one of the first to try out the park with the Rutland Times team, said: “I think the Aqua Park is a great addition to Rutland Water and was fun and physical. I’d recommend it to anyone.”

Advanced booking is recommended and the park is open come rain or shine.

Tickets are £15 each, offering a 55-minute experience. Participants must be aged over six and over 1.1m in height and able to swim 50m in a buoyancy vest to take part. Vests are provided and wetsuits are available to hire additionally for £5. To book visit https://apr.sports-booker.com/customer/
