The countdown has begun to the Deepings Raft Race and competitors are being urged to get cracking with their designs.

The event is due to take place on Sunday, August 7, and this year’s theme is ‘Raft Race Goes to the Movies’.

For 2016, the race’s main nominated charities are MECP2 Duplication (Brody & Friends) and The Deepings Community Centre.

Competitors are also able to collect sponsorship for their own chosen charities.

Alongside the race, there will be plenty of other entertainment to keep the crowds entertained.

There will be a large number of stalls, classic cars and bikes, a funfair, music and dance demonstrations, two ‘bus bars’, competitions including prizes for the best fancy dress and lots more.

Organisers are still looking for a few extra volunteers to help marshall the event.

In exchange for completing a two-hour slot, volunteers will receive a voucher for free food or drink.
