WEATHER: Thunder, lightning and torrential rain could bring more flooding

The brief return to settled weather looks set to be disrupted at the end of the week with warnings of thunderstorms, torrential rain and lightning.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for South Kesteven and Rutland from 3pm on Sunday to midnight on Monday and says there is a possibility of flooding and disruption to travel.

The warning says there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from flood water, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.

Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

Today (Thursday), Friday and Saturday will see settled weather with sunny intervals and a gentle breeze, light rain and showers are forecast for next Tuesday, before the weather settles again.
