Arsonists target the Exeter Arms in Helpston

A fire at a disused pub was started deliberately, according to the fire service.

A crew from Market Deeping was called to the Exeter Arms in Church Lane, Helpston, at about 6.15pm yesterday (Tuesday).

Two wheelie bins close to propane cylinders were on fire, along with about 6ft of guttering and cellar doors.

The fire was put out by 7.50pm. The is thought to have been arson.

The pub is now owned by the John Clare Trust.
